The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued important guidelines regarding the classification of overdue Term Loans and Cash Credit facilities into ‘SPECIAL MENTION ACCOUNTS’ (SMA) and ‘NON-PERFORMING ASSETS’ (NPA). This classification occurs when loans are fully or partially defaulted.

As per these guidelines, it is crucial to regularly check the status of your loan for the bank’s financial health and compliance with regulatory norms.

Loan Status Classification is as follows:

• SPECIAL MENTION ACCOUNTS (SMA):
  • SMA-0: Loans overdue from 1 to 30 days beyond the original due date.
  • SMA-1: Loans overdue from 31 to 60 days beyond the original due date.
  • SMA-2: Loans overdue from 61 to 90 days beyond the original due date.
• NON-PERFORMING ASSET (NPA):
  • When a loan remains overdue for more than 90 days beyond its original due date, it is classified as a ‘Non-Performing Asset’ (NPA).

Important for You:

To avoid falling into the SMA or NPA categories, it is absolutely essential to pay your loan installments on time. Timely repayment has a positive impact on your CIBIL Credit Score and increases the likelihood of obtaining future loans.

• Please contact the bank branch to know the current status of your loan and ensure timely installment payments.

या सूचनांनुसार, बँकेच्या आर्थिक आरोग्यासाठी आणि नियामक नियमांचे पालन करण्यासाठी, आपल्या कर्जाची सद्यस्थिती नियमितपणे तपासणे अत्यंत महत्त्वाचे आहे.

कर्जाच्या स्थितीची वर्गवारी खालीलप्रमाणे केली जाते:

• SPECIAL MENTION ACCOUNTS (SMA):
  • SMA-0: मूळ देयकाची तारीख उलटून गेली असून 1 ते 30 दिवसांपर्यंत थकीत असलेले कर्ज.
  • SMA-1: मूळ देयकाची तारीख उलटून गेली असून 31 ते 60 दिवसांपर्यंत थकीत असलेले कर्ज.
  • SMA-2: मूळ देयकाची तारीख उलटून गेली असून 61 ते 90 दिवसांपर्यंत थकीत असलेले कर्ज.
• NON PERFORMING ACCOUNT (NPA):
  • जेव्हा कर्जाची मूळ देयकाची तारीख उलटून 90 दिवसांपेक्षा जास्त कालावधीसाठी थकीत राहते, तेव्हा त्यास ‘अनुत्पादक मालमत्ता’ (NPA) म्हणून वर्गीकृत केले जाते.

आपल्यासाठी महत्त्वाचे:

SMA किंवा NPA वर्गात येणे टाळण्यासाठी, आपल्या कर्जाचे हप्ते वेळेवर भरणे अत्यंत आवश्यक आहे. वेळेवर परतफेड केल्याने आपल्या सिबिल क्रेडिट स्कोअर (CIBIL Credit Score) वर सकारात्मक परिणाम होतो आणि भविष्यात कर्ज मिळण्याची शक्यता वाढते.
